Bumpy Nights in Belhaven (#117)

We had a spectacularly smooth ride to Belhaven, North Carolina. We knew we would be there for four days because of weather.

The waterways were gorgeous.

The last part of our journey was crossing the Pungo River. The waves were less than a foot so great for a large body of water.

However, when we docked in Belhaven the constant rocking started to bother Laura. She has some known motion sickness, but after two days of rocking like this her head started to hurt and her stomach wouldn't settle. She stayed up late off the boat and took Dramamine. The next days the winds were worse. Without hotels around and with the one B&B full, she found herself the only resident of this newly renovated manor.

The room seemed very extravagant, especially since the night before Laura seriously considered sleeping in the lawn or in the bathroom at the marina.

After 2 nights, the weather cleared and Ted & Laura were ready to head to Coinjock. We met new Loopers and sailboaters at this stop. We are ahead of the Loopers and even early for the Florida northern migration.

Stay: 4 nights

Pros: Near town, Manor nearby, Good food, excellent staff, fuel in slip

Cons: Not protected, rocking, broken washer

Rating: 3 stars

Manor 5 stars!
