Dining in Daytona (#103)

We had a lovely calm clear sky trip to Daytona.

We didn't know about this wonderful inlet for Manatees. We went no wake and then idle speed in order to keep these Manatees in sight.

ree

At one point we saw two manatees on the bow of our boat.

ree

The ripples in the water are the manatees. Not easy to capture in these pictures but marvelous to see as we went through.

In front of the Starry Night gallery was the most beautiful one of these Tesla's I've ever seen.

ree

I was able to take a peek into this new gallery when the doors were open on their off days. This is a community gallery where the gallery owner asks local artists to create themed art that she sells. The first them was Van Gough's starry night. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

We ate at the wonderful Ichi Ni San restaurant. From my karate days, I know it's one two three. Wonderful food!

ree

We found a wonderful Irish Pub for Ted to get a beer after dinner. We met up with our friends from Lady In Red that we had last seen in Clewiston.

ree

And after dinner we provisioned with slices of this wonderful quiche, a favorite item on the Sparkling Star.

Laura ventured into this museum that was under renovation. Set in an old bank, the museum captured some of the history of the area.

Halifax Harbor Marina has over 500 slips and is a bit of walk to see the marina, but it's also very close to the downtown.

We used this time as an additional staging location to prepare for our listing, and prepare for our trip up the east coast. Much of the time we just enjoy being on our boat, especially since we know our days are now numbered.

Stay: 3 nights

Pros: Close to town, Fuel easy on arrival, new stable docks, wide fingerpiers

Cons: Can be long walk to restrooms, Can mistake your boat for others (there were 3 on our two docks!)

Four Stars
