Long Trek with Perfect Weather to Coinjock (#118)

We waited for a perfect weather day to do our crossing to Coinjock across the Albermoro sound. We started early in the morning so we could get to Coinjock enough time to get fuel before they closed.

The water was smooth and many other boats decided to join us for the journey.

There was only on bridge along the way, the Onslow Bridge, where we needed to worry about timing or closures. We called the day before and they said everything was working and they open on demand. We traveled with two other boats who opened, and Knot on Course (our friends we met in Pebble Beach) were first to ask them to open the bridge. We got through with no delay.

The water was calm in Alligator River.

We had the tannins in the water in the Nuese river. We had heard this is what you would see in Palmico Sound.

This body of water can be treatchurous on a windy day.

Sitting in front of the restaurant.

Boats were tied up along the walkway. Because of the wind and current, starboard side was the best.

Prime Rib are a big deal. Ted had one for us.

Stay: 1 Night

Pros: Only real stop along the way, easy to tie up, good restaurant on site, easy to get in fuel access

Cons: Might have to raft up if there were too many boats
