We are so excited to be on the move again. Charlevoix is a place that feels very comfortable, but is hard to capture in pictures. We definitely should have taken more.
Charlevoix marina is very difficult to get a slip because it is such a popular travel destination for locals and Loopers. We were very lucky. We had reserved a space before we were stuck in Drummond. We kept checking back and were able to add two extra days. The three days allowed us a much needed planning break. We were also able have Docktails with Looper friends from Finito that we haven't seen since we first started our journey in Havre de Grace, MD. (Chesapeake Bay)

This picture shows the Sparkling Star in the distance. We have the black "Sparkling Star" Dinghy cover.

On our first day we did the Mushroom house tour. And the most famous mushroom house has been modified with this spectacular thatch roof added. When we were there the house had finally sold after more than 4 years on the market.

This is a real musroom house with the curved roof. It was half a house to go up the the property line. Many of the mushroom houses are available to rent for the summer. There were guests there when we went by.

This is an original mushroom house. The architect liked rocks and lines that mimiced the waves. This wall is one of the most spectacular design.

At the end of the tour, there were signs requesting no tours because people live there. That was an awkward part of the trip. The guide showed us a picture of an angry owner in her book and explained that they have go cameras to record any incident. We did not take any pictures there.
The next two days after we arrived were "no go"travel days based on our assessment of weather for wind and waves. For context, the day we left there were no whitecap waves. This was from the tour and our guide said these waves were fall waves, not August waves.

We watched our friends Finito in a big 55 Fleming with stablizers leave in the waves. Apparently, the journey was rocky.

Behind us the water is crashing over the wall.

And this kind of shows the wind with my hair.

Laura went shopping in Charlevoix and bought a bunch of warm clothing, including the jacket you see above.
We planned for Ted to take a chartered fishing trip to go to get salmon. Because of the wind and waves, the trip was canceled. He went to a local salmon shop to buy smoked salmon twice!
There is a ferry that goes to Beaver Island from Charlevoix. It leaves at 7:30am, then they give you a tour, and returns at 5:30pm. Laura considered going, but there was still so much to do in Charlevoix during our brief stay.
We left on a calm day. This is the Charlevoix Memorial Drawbridge that opens on the 1/2 hour. The bridge operator also owned the charter fishing company Ted was going to use to go salmon fishing.
