Perfect Chesapeake Day to Coan River (#121)

We had a wonderfully calm day to travel from Hampton to Coan River, Virginia in the Potomac.

We left at our usual early morning first light. We were right at the mouth of the Chesapeake. On AIS we looked for big ships to avoid as we quickly crossed the channel to head north.

The water was spectacularly calm for a body of water that regulary sports 4-6 ft waves.

The day was calm, but we did see 3ft waves in the of our voyage. Laura's dramamine worked great and Ted's head started to hurt for bit.

We turned the bend to the Potomac for our wake crossing.

Ted spent a while removing all the salt spray from the Cheasapeake.

The marina is clean and well kept.

We saw a barge on the Chesapeake, and Ted commented that it might be our last barge.

Stay: 1 night

Pros: Good 240 amp power, clean restrooms, ethanol fuel, helpful young brother owners, likely to improve each year

Cons: no laundry, tricky to get in but well marked channel, no grocery or restaurants nearby, no diesel (not an issue for us)
