Seasickness in Georgian Bay to Parry Sound (#33)

Updated: Aug 4, 2024

Navigating the Georgian Bay is extremely daunting. We have maps, charts, guidance, and they all seem unsurmountable. "Don't listen to your chartplotter" etc is where we start. This is where it seems like we should have spent years studying and charting this section. Unfortunately, every section of the Loop needs a new set of knowledge.

Since it was time to move forward, and we weren't sure we completely knew the ins and outs of the Georgian Bay inside channel, Ted charted a course on the outside. We started off the day and it was beautiful and calm.

And then it got worse... No true pictures of this section. Ted said 4-6 ft seas. Laura didn't see. Except for when the boat spray was over the bow and could be seen in the salon.

Laura went down to the middle of the boat and got seasick for the first time for the next three hours. New Looper friends from Sacagewea shared their secret for seasickness.

Ted took the dinghy while Laura recouperated.

And caught some fish. Apparently the good one got away!

We took a bike ride to get provisions before leaving Parry Sound.

Ted looked for a new fishing lure after loosing one to the fish that got away.

Laura had to stop to take a picture of this advertisement for solar power to pay for your "hydro".
