Family Fun in Hampton (#120)

Updated: 2 days ago

We started an early morning trip and the water was spectacular.

We love our early morning departures.

We got to see all the Navy shops in their piers. Ted was stationed here back in the early 80's.

Ted stated to explain a bit of what we were seeing.

Right before we were going to enter the very calm Chesapeake we had an issue where our Starboard engine kept dying. We phoned some mechanic friends and got a recommendation for the Safe Harbor Bluewater marina that was right next to us. Unfortunately, they were not at the marina where we arrived. We docked on the fuel dock, until the dockmaster arrived. Then he told us to move here. Our Sparkling Star looks small next to her big neighbors.

The Surf Rider Bluewater marina. When it was closed on Monday, many people still came to the restaurant. Food was pretty good.

We were able to see Ted's family in Hampton.

Laura saw these two ducks in the lawn as walking around the neighborhood. Ted's grandfather had decoy ducks that looked just like these. In Hampton, we are really close to where Ted's family had lived for the past 300+ years.

Stay: 2 nights

Pros: Helpful staff, clean restrooms, restaurant on site (except Mondays)

Cons: Not open on Easter!

4 stars
