Astronomical Clock in Munster, Germany(#40)

We started our day to arrive early at the train station. There was red next to our train and the translation of the train was "doesn't drive". We found another 5 train solution with 5-7 minute transfers that required a bit of running, one early stop with an hour in nowhere, and an eventual arrival in the small quiet town of Muenster.

After the hustle and bustle of Antwerp, we enjoyed the quiet pace of Munster. The accommodations were much less grand, but it's a great two day stop as we head to Norway.

This building has the Peace of Westfalia room to visit where the truce that ended the 80 years war was signed.

We waited to get an English audio guide. Most all the museums and exhibitions are in German.

The Münster history museum had this picture the size of a wall.

We went in the Muenster St. James Cathedral when the service was over.

This statue was huge - probably 30-40ft tall.

The Astronomical clock was amazing. There were references to all the astrological sun signs on the clock.

This little guy is maybe 3 inches pointing to the date below the main clock.

We had a wonderful lunch with great seats!

Münster

Pros: central location, astronomical clock in beautiful church, big history-Treaty of Westphalia-, great food

Cons: smaller room, cobblestone streets

5 stars
