We planned an overnight ferry to Oslo from Copenhagen.

We had a wonderful room on the 11th floor with access to the commodores lounge.

We were able to see the Danish castle we had visited the day before by ferry.

Ted enjoyed coffee on deck as we got closer to our destination.

We went to the Historical Museum of Oslo.

We saw this famous Viking helmet that had been buried in a burial mound around Oslo

Ted in his happy place in the rain. Strangely, we have not had much rain on our summer adventures.

The stave church portal from Al was torn down in 1880. In the Middle Ages, it must have been the pride and joy of the small mountain community of l. But by the 1800s, stave churches had become outdated. They were too small, too cold, too dark, too old fashioned, and many were torn down in the late 1800s. Fortunately parts of them were saved, especially the richly decorated stave church portals. Now the AI portal is a museum object. Since 1904, it has been displayed in the Historical Museum, a national icon, high on the cultural heritage 'gold list.

The museum first floor height was built to showcase these entryways.

This was a church ceiling removed and included in the museum with medieval paintings intact.

Ted wasn’t feeling well so Laura headed to the 7-11 to buy a one day transport pass.

She saw the Kon-Tiki Musuem

And found this great phone booth with a library inside.

The goal was to reach the Norse Folkemuseum - Norwegian Museum of Cultural History

In the open-air museum, you’ll find 160 historic buildingssituated in beautiful surroundings. Walk between different parts of Norway, from cities to the countryside, while you envision the joys and struggles of everyday life through the centuries.

Inside these homes was the story of the Sami people who lived in these homes. At the end of WWII, Hitler ordered the Sami entire villages to be burned in the final days of the war. After the war, these homes were built to be solid homes but did not include their ancient home building styles.

The home was for cows to live under.

Sod roofed farmhouses from different regions are surrounded by pastures and grazing farm animals behind picturesque fences.
This home had a family that housed several families. Children left and moved to Montana to be sheep herders.
