Our Pace in Cologne (#36)

After a lovely nights travel from Koblenz to Cologne, we made the decision to get off the ship in Cologne to enjoy more time at our pace.

Once we got on our own, Ted finally got a pizza dinner and we checked into a hotel and made plans for the next day excursions.

The next day, our first stop was the Cologne Cathedral to see the Treasury.

Medieveal jewels from 1500's

The entrance dates back to the 1500's

The oldest large wooden crucifix called the Gero Crucifiex from 960 AD.

The ceilings are extraordinarilty high. With all the visitors and the outside heat, the church was warm.

The cathedral was left unfinished for 400 years. The crane was left in place during that time.

Afterwards we found the Lindt chocolate Museum.

With a small demonstration greenhouse with a cocoa plant.

With working machinery making chocholates duirng the tour.

The important ingredients.

We were able to custom make our own delicous chocolate bars. We needed to wait an hour so we had a yummy lunch in the cafe while we waited.

As we walked back and forth to our hotel, we continued to marvel at this glass egg building which houses a mall.
