We returned to Hamburg on our way to Munich. We picked the same Fraser Suites we liked so much on our way to Norway. We decided to try another vegetarian restaurant.

We found the yummy Grill and Green restaurant. Laura had a Ginger Mint tea wiith fresh ginger and mint. Easy to do and very good!

Ted noticed a Triumph motorcycle like the ones he used to ride.

Laura went on a tour of the Hamburg City Hall. The tour started in the Parliament side of the building.

The building was impressive in size and ornamentation. The guide explained how Hamburg was very weallthy in the 19th century when the building was built.

The Parliament room is used weekly for public meetings that the public is welcome to attend after signing up for tickets.

The public sits in the balcony area overlooking the proceedings.

Next to the parliament is a room with a grand fireplace that has never been used since the building was furnished with electric heating. Visitors were amazed that they were warm withought the fire being lit. This room historically was used for weekly meetings with the public, and is now used for private meetings of the Parliament.

The adjoining door is a symbolic and functional connection between the two sides; the Parliament, and the Government.

Th Government side door is much more ornate that the Parliament.

This room represents the trading parther countries with Hamburg.

This image represents completion of the the Kiel canal that connected the Baltic to the North Sea.

The bottom middle image represents North America as a trading partner.

During WWII, a bomb was dropped and did not detonate. The picture represents what could of happened to building if it hadn't detonated. On the fireplace is the incindiary device that didn't go off to destroy the building.

The largest room is used for meetings and presentations, but no dancing is allowed because the building rests on 2,000 wooden pillars.

Stay: 2 nights
Pros: Great city hall tour, easy laundry in hotel
Cons: confusion with hotel staff about our breakfast
