Yoga, Relaxation, & IKEA in Gothenburg, Sweden (#49)

We had a wonderful train trip to Gothenburg and Laura tried to take as many pictures as she could as we sped through the countryside.

Getting good pictures has become a hobby (like fishing, you never know what you will get) as you only have seconds to get a fabulous shot in a speeding train.

Now that we are in September, many of the tourist attractions are over. Also, there are not tours for English speaking people in Sweden. Again - we find ourselves alone as Americans. Most Americans seem to travel abroad by cruise ship these days.

We started our time in Gothenburg with yoga at the Raddison Blu Spa next door. Laura went three times and Ted went once. The instructions were in Swedish but they would translate whe we didn’t get it, so we immediately knew of the instructions were for us because of the language. Laura also got a Swedish masssage while she was there.

We had to do a field trip to IKEA for our time in Sweden. Turns out IKEA looks about the same in Sweden other than the entrance sign.

And our IKEA family food discount was the same.

We learned in Norway that the historians believe Vikings consumed these red dotted mushrooms, called Fly Catchers, before going on their Vikings raids. Throughout Skandinavia we would see trinkets for sale of these mushrooms. This wall mural was beautifully painted as we walked to our bus to travel to IKEA.

Gothenburg - 3 days

Pros: Nice place to walk, hotel good, IKEA

In Sweden is a must do, wonderful in hotel Yoga, good Vietnamese food.

Cons: Expensive.
